Avg having trouble updating
Second, there's a mess of files and folders you must delete.
Zone Labs gives lengthy instructions on how to do that, but to make it easy, I wrote a simple command file.

Download and unzip the CMD file zfix.zip, then run it.
It'll clean all traces of any old installation from your system, and you can now run a fresh installation with no problem.
Im getting the same problem with AVG 8 and have been for a week or so now I thought it was just me, but if others are having it, Im actually a bit relieved What I find is happening is that about 50% of the time, the connection with the server fails, whether its done automatically or manually Its a nuicence, but I suspect that, as its happening to a few people, its happening at AVG, not on our machines Another few days of it, and I will remove AVG and go back to Avast Its not bad – it isnt as "pretty" as AVG, but its back on my machine now This morning, it took me four attempts to manually download the update file, and it worked on the 5th try, at a speed of about 300 bytes a second :( It was the last straw – I might go back if and when they fix it, but after the last fiasco with the link-scanner, I think AVG may have just lost the plot a bit too much for me to risk it Well, it has a Star Trek theme :) I ain't biased in my Sci Fi. I can make it stop trying to automatically update, which is preferable to me. i had AVG saying one of my system files had a trojon, but it dd not even give me the option to heal or even delete.
I use mostly a wireless broadband dongle so I want the AV to wait until I connect it. just ignore, if i ignore, 5 seconds later i ge the same warning.
You could change, but I think it will slow things down. (I'm guessing maybe the you one have is for the paid version? So you mean if you make the Resident scan all files, it'll slow things down a lot...?

buddy215 -- I'm slightly nervous about downloading and running programs like this.
But I'm guessing I can do manually what this little program is doing...? rd /s /q C:\"Program Files"\"Zone Labs"rd /s /q C:\WINDOWS\system32\zonelabsdel /q C:\WINDOWS\system32\Vsconfig.xmldel /q C:\WINDOWS\system32\Vsdata.dlldel /q C:\WINDOWS\system32\Vsdatant.dlldel /q C:\WINDOWS\system32\Vsinit.dlldel /q C:\WINDOWS\system32\Vsmonapi.dlldel /q C:\WINDOWS\system32\Vspubapi.dlldel /q C:\WINDOWS\system32\Vsregexp.dlldel /q C:\WINDOWS\system32\Vsutil.dlldel /q C:\WINDOWS\system32\Vswmi.dlldel /q C:\WINDOWS\system32\Vsxml.dlldel /q C:\WINDOWS\system32\zlcomm.dlldel /q C:\WINDOWS\system32\You can quit it but its disabled and you'll have to remember to turn it back on. That setting in the Resident is because the resident is live. Once you have deleted these files, new control files will be downloaded during a next attempt to update AVG.
